Iraq: Fleeing With A Newborn Baby

September 9, 2014

“My daughter was almost two weeks old when we left, & I was very tired, but we had to flee”

Chenar fled to Dohuk a few days after her third child was born, with her husband and children. After a difficult journey and weeks of uncomfortable living in the courtyard of an old public building, Chenar and her ethnic Yazidi family are looking forward to moving to the new facility.

A new camp for displaced people is taking shape in the village of Khanke in Iraq’s Kurdistan region, with the help of UNHCR and its partners.
