An Evening with Author Jonathan Harr

On the evening of January 27^th, a USA for UNHCR supporters joined in a telephone meeting with UN Refugee Agency staff and author and journalist, Jonathan Harr. The group discussed Mr. Harr’s recent article about UNHCR in The New Yorker and his current work on a book about UNHCR’s emergency response professionals.

Harr writes for The New Yorker and New York Times. His books include A Civil Action, which won him the National Book Award and became a film starring John Travolta. He described the hard living conditions facing both refugees and the UNHCR workers in places like Chad. Noting the dangerous and violent situation in which UNHCR operates, he shared his excitement at being able to help people learn about the agency's mission.
