The Nansen Society: A Special Honor for Bequest Donors
The ultimate honor one can offer USA for UNHCR and the refugees we serve is to remember us with a bequest.
So it follows that for such an exceptional gift, the highest honor we may offer to reciprocate is membership in the Nansen Society, a permanent recognition of your commitment to and concern for the displaced of the world.
The society is named for Fridtjof Nansen, the Norwegian explorer and diplomat, who was the first person to hold the title of High Commissioner for Refugees. Even before the existence of the United Nations, the League of Nations created the position of High Commissioner for Refugees with Nansen in mind. In recognition of his tireless advocacy, Mr. Nansen received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1922.
As a member of the Nansen Society, you will know that you are continuing our tradition—helping to ensure the future strength of UNHCR. Your name will be included on a special electronic recognition wall on our website, and you will receive an annual newsletter for Nansen Society members.
USA for UNHCR honors the following members of the Nansen Society for their commitment and gift:
