The situation in Iraq is desperate.

The needs are real. Millions have

been displaced this year in Iraq alone.

For many, this is not their first time. Violent attacks in Iraq have created new waves of displacement– causing an emergency call for even more resources in the area. Terrified, homeless and in need of food and water, families are fleeing with nothing but the clothes on their backs. They have no other choice, if they want to survive.

UNHCR is on the ground, providing much needed protection and aid to hundreds of thousands of families. Rapid response efforts are underway, including the distribution of critical relief items like blankets, clean drinking water, hygiene kits, sleeping mats and other basic survival items.

We had no choice other than to leave because it was not safe for our children. We left everything: our clothes, our furniture, even our food.
