Fawzi Mohamad and his family fled the violence in Mosul, Iraq. They eventually reached safety at the Hasansham camp in the country’s northern region.
Initially, the family had to share a tent with other families. Soon, though, they were given their own private shelter in a location where they could also access medical care, clean water, sanitation and other essential services.
Hearing the news, a physically and emotionally drained Fawzi broke down in tears. ''We feel stable now. We are a settled family now," he said. With that feeling of safety and stability, they can begin to rebuild their lives.

''It's very important for every family to have their own shelter because nobody knows for how long they stay in this camp. So, because of that, at UNHCR, we are trying our best to find a shelter per family.''
