Refugee Youth Storyteller’s Celebration: Stories of Inspiration

Calling all refugee youth storytellers, writers, singers, artists, painters and photographers around the United States who have a passion for raising their voices to build more creative and accepting communities.

Have you ever wanted to see your words, your song or your art come to life in an animation? Are you under the age 30 and want to share your inspiring story across the United States?

We want to hear from you!

The 2021 Refugee Youth Storyteller’s Celebration is your chance to use your creativity and your voice for a great cause!

USA for UNHCR is seeking submissions for the 2021 Refugee Youth Storyteller’s Celebration, a creative storytelling celebration for former refugees under the age of 30 who are now living in the United States. You do not need to be a professional writer or artist to submit. We want to hear your authentic voice and learn about your courageous journey.

The selected story will be transformed into a professional animation that will launch on World Refugee Day 2021!

Other stories that are not selected for animation will be featured on USA for UNHCR’s website and social media channels!

Storyteller’s Celebration Guidelines:

  • Must be a resettled refugee or asylee under age 30 in the United States.
  • If you are under the age of 18, consent from a parent or guardian is required.
  • Featured storytellers must be willing to be featured in communications and promotional material leading up to and beyond World Refugee Day 2021 (June 20, 2021).
  • Selected storyteller must be willing to have their work animated by a professional animation studio and released by USA for UNHCR.

Go to Refugee Youth Storyteller’s Celebration: Stories of Inspiration and share your submission today!

All submissions due by March 7.
