Supporting #TeamRefugees in Rio? Check the Schedule and Follow Along!

Ten refugees have been selected to form the first-ever Refugee Olympic Athletes team. ;

Support Team Refugees at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and follow along as they bring hope and inspiration to refugees and help raise awareness of the global refugee crisis.

Below, find the competition schedule for the athletes on the Refugee Team and a link to a short video biography.

August 10th:

Yolande Mabika, a judo athlete from the Democratic Republic of the Congo now living in Brazil, advanced to the round of 32 in the judo women’s 70kg division, and will face Linda Bolder of Israel. Time:9:35 AM EST

Popole Misenga, also a judo athlete from the Democratic Republic of the Congo now living in Brazil, advanced to the round of 32 in the judo men’s 90kg division, and will face India’s Avtar Singh. Time: 9:49 AM EST

Yusra Mardini, a Syrian swimmer now living in Germany, will swim the women’s 100m freestyle. Yusra swims in heat one. Time: 12:02 PM EST

August 11th:

Rami Anis, a Syrian swimmer now living in Belgium, will be back in the water competing in the men’s 100m butterfly in heat 2. Time: 1:19 PM EST

August 12th:

Yiech Pur Biel, a runner from South Sudan now living in Kenya, will compete in the men’s 800m. The first heat begins at 9:10 AM eastern time, but participants for each heat are still to be determined. Time: 9:10 AM EST

Anjelina Nadai Lohalith, who is also a refugee from South Sudan now living in Kenya, will be running in the women’s 1500m. The first heat begins at 7:30 PM eastern time, but participants for each heat are still to be determined. Time: 7:30 PM EST

James Chiengjiek, also a runner from South Sudan now living in Kenya, will compete in the men’s 400m. The first heat begins at 8:05 PM eastern time, but participants for each heat are still to be determined. Time: 8:05 PM EST

August 16th:

Paulo Amotun, a refugee from South Sudan now living in Kenya, will be competing in the men’s 1500m. The first heat begins at 9:30 AM eastern time, but participants for each heat are still to be determined. Time: 9:30 AM EST

August 17th:

Rose Nathike Lokonyen, who escaped the fighting in South Sudan in 2002 and now lives in Kenya, will compete in the women’s 800m. The first heat begins at 9:55 AM eastern time, but participants for each heat are still to be determined. Time: 9:55 AM EST

August 21st:

Yonas Kinde, a refugee from Ethiopia now living in Luxembourg, will run in the men’s marathon. Time: 8:30 AM EST
