USA for UNHCR Welcomes Five New Board Members

WASHINGTON, DC (December 20, 2021) – The staff and current board of directors of USA for UNHCR welcome new board members Aishah Hasnie, Rachael Jarosh, Mark Lopes, Eric Sprunk and Charity Wallace. New board members will begin their term on January 1, 2022.

“Our new board members have a passion for our mission and track records of achievement,” says Anne-Marie Grey, USA for UNHCR Executive Director and CEO. “With their service, USA for UNHCR is better positioned to meet the challenges of the global refugee crisis with innovation and empathy, while continuing to lift the voices and experiences of refugees.”

Aishah Hasnie is a broadcast journalist for FOX News Media who served as an overnight anchor and headline news reporter on FOX & Friends First and FOX & Friends, and now serves as FOX News Channel’s Congressional Correspondent. Hasnie has been recognized for her work by the Indiana Associated Press and the Society of Professional Journalists. Born in Lahore, Pakistan, she immigrated to the U.S. and was raised in Indiana.

Rachael Jarosh is a U.S.-based business executive, community leader and philanthropist, who has built a distinctive professional portfolio in law, finance, communications and philanthropic strategy during her 25+ year career. Most recently, Jarosh served as President and CEO of Enactus, the largest experiential learning platform developing next generation social innovators and entrepreneurial business leaders, and currently serves on the boards of Lifetime Brands Inc. (NASDAQ: LCUT) and Class Acceleration Corp. (NYSE: CLAS.U).

Mark Lopes is the Chief Operating Officer for the Partnership for Central America. Previously, he was vice president of corporate partnerships at Carbyne, an international technology and emergency communications company. Under Barack Obama, Lopes served as U.S. executive director to the Inter-American Development Bank and deputy assistant administrator at the U.S. Agency for International Development.

Eric Sprunk had been, at the time of his retirement in August 2020, Chief Operating Officer of Nike, Inc. since 2013. During his 27 years at Nike, Sprunk held various executive positions of increasing responsibility, including Executive Vice President, Global Product and Merchandising from 2008 to 2013 and Executive Vice President and General Manager, Global Footwear from 2001 to 2008. He is a member of the Board of Directors of General Mills and Bombardier.

Charity Wallace, founder and president of Wallace Global Impact, is a pioneering executive leader with expertise in social impact, foreign policy, global development and women’s empowerment. Wallace previously served as the Senior Vice President for the Office of Strategic Initiatives and Managing Director of Global Women’s Issues at U.S. International Development Finance Corporation and as a Senior Advisor to Laura Bush and the George W. Bush Institute.

With these additions comes one departure from the board. After six years of service, Susan McPherson will end her term as a board member on December 31, 2021.

USA for UNHCR is governed by a 17-member board of directors who share a commitment to the goals and objectives of UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency. Working alongside Executive Director and CEO Anne-Marie Grey, the Board provides advice on policy, advocacy, fundraising and programming. All Board members are independent.
