Worldwide, more than 120 million people have been forced to flee for safety — leaving behind their homes, schools and often, family members. At USA for UNHCR, we believe we can all do more to give refugees more opportunities and help them keep hope for a bright future when they are far away from home.
Too often, refugees face social, economic or cultural barriers to restarting their lives in a new community. However, we are committed to showing refugees worldwide how valued they are.
The most effective way to support resettled families and refugees is to welcome them with open arms into their new community. Welcoming refugees can take many different forms such as ensuring they can apply for jobs, enroll in school and access social services, like housing and healthcare. Welcoming refugees means opening our doors and our hearts to let them know they are valued members of the community.
We can all do more to give refugees more hope — and more opportunities — while they are away from home. Let's recommit to including refugees in our schools, workplaces, healthcare systems and beyond. Join USA for UNHCR and add your name in support of including refugees in our communities as they restart their lives.
