Together we give refugees the hope they deserve, restore their dignity and help them rebuild their lives.
USA for UNHCR is grateful for our national network of community fundraisers who go beyond donating to raise funds and awareness in their communities. Together we can help provide refugees with the basic needs and rights they deserve.
If you have any questions about starting a fundraiser or awareness campaign, please fill out the form below to contact a member of the Community Fundraising team.
Visit https://fundraise-for-refugees.funraise.org/ and set up an account. The platform will walk you through how to set up your fundraiser and you can start collecting money TODAY!
If you decide not to set up a Funraise page and receive donations in the form of a check or cash, we recommend combining all funds received and sending us one check for the lump sum. If that is not possible, we will accept multiple checks. For security and tax purposes, it’s best to pay by check — made payable to USA for UNHCR — not by cash.
You can send offline donations to the following address. Please include the name of your fundraiser:
USA for UNHCR
Attn: Community Fundraising
1310 L Street NW, Suite #450
Washington, DC, 20005
For online fundraisers: If multiple people donate through a Funraise donation page, each person will receive their own tax receipt.
For offline fundraisers: If you send in one check, you will be the recipient of the tax receipt. Mailed in receipts will arrive within 1 week of being processed
Third-party event organizers cannot use USA for UNHCR’s tax exemption status in connection with the event. However, we can provide an authorization letter confirming the organizer’s intent to raise funds for USA for UNHCR.
Unfortunately, the UN Refugee Agency is unable to accept material donations to ship to crisis zones.
When providing lifesaving supplies to refugees, the UN Refugee Agency has in place procurement mechanisms that allow us to purchase exactly what refugees need locally. This ensures refugees are receiving the type of assistance they need most at the moment they need it and, as is the case with many emergencies, those needs can change quickly depending on weather, environment and immediate need.
