Storyteller Celebration: Courageous Journeys 2023

The USA for UNHCR Storyteller Celebration is back for its third year! We’re calling on refugee storytellers and allies to share their journeys, passions and inspirations with us. If you’re under the age of 30 and want a platform to share your courageous journey, then we want to hear from you!

The 2023 Storyteller Celebration is your chance to use your voice for a great cause!

USA for UNHCR is seeking submissions for the 2023 Storyteller Celebration, a creative award-winning storytelling celebration for former refugees and refugee allies under the age of 30 who are living in the United States. A refugee ally might be someone who supports refugees through advocacy, mentoring, job training, employment, university organizations or other forms of volunteering in your community.

You do not need to be a professional writer or artist to submit. For former refugees, we want to hear your authentic voice and learn about your courageous journey. For allies, we want to learn more about what inspires you to support the refugee community and the impact your work has had on others!

In the past, featured storytellers have been featured in USA for UNHCR videos and social media, local news articles, panels and more. This is your opportunity to make your voice and story heard!

Storyteller Celebration Guidelines:

  • Must be a resettled refugee, asylee or refugee ally under age 30 in the United States.
  • If you are under the age of 18, consent from a parent or guardian is required.
  • Featured storytellers must be willing to be featured in communications and promotional material leading up to and beyond World Refugee Day 2023 (June 20, 2023).

Go to Storyteller Celebration 2023: Courageous Journeys and share your submission today!

All submissions due by Wednesday, March 15th.
