USA for UNHCR Announces Two New Board Members

WASHINGTON, DC (March 28, 2018) – The staff and current board of directors of USA for UNHCR welcome new board members Yasmin Causer and Virginia Tenpenny.

Yasmin Causer is a partner in the Private Client Services Group at KLR, an accounting firm in Boston, Massachusetts, where she advises high net worth individuals and their families in tax matters. Yasmin’s focus is on helping individuals and families manage, monitor and evaluate their financial situation. She has advised clients on gifting strategies, philanthropic planning and multi-generation wealth transfer opportunities.

Virginia Tenpenny serves as vice president of Global Social Impact at Starbucks Coffee Company and executive director of The Starbucks Foundation. Virginia works with partners around the world to guide global long-term investments that improve livelihoods and strengthen communities. Among her team’s current goals are removing barriers to opportunities for U.S. military veterans and spouses, opportunity youth and refugees around the globe.

“As USA for UNHCR sharpens its focus on shaping the important role the private sector can play in addressing the refugee crisis, we welcome the addition of these two outstanding new board members,” said Charles DeSantis, chair of USA for UNHCR’s board of directors. “Their global experience and expertise in social impact and financial services will strengthen USA for UNHCR’s ability to deliver results for refugees.”

USA for UNHCR is governed by a 12-member board of directors who share a commitment to the goals and objectives of UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency. Working alongside Executive Director and CEO Anne-Marie Grey, the Board provides advice on policy, advocacy, fundraising and programming. All Board members are independent.
