Team Step With Refugees

USA for UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is proud to join as an Official Charity Partner for the 2024 United Airlines NYC Half!

110 million. It’s a staggering number, almost unreal and utterly heartbreaking. It’s the shocking number of children, women and men who have been forced to flee their homes in search of safety.

Here’s another number: One. This number represents our one global family, our one human race, and YOU, one person whose desire to help will change the lives of refugees and displaced families around the world.

Your commitment to run with Team Step With Refugees will help make a meaningful impact in the lives of refugees and displaced people around the world.

You will help provide critical aid like food, warm blankets and safe shelter in moments of crisis. But you will do so much more than that — you will empower them with hope and opportunity as they rebuild their lives.

Team Step With Refugees runners are  guaranteed race entry when they commit to fundraise (or donate) a minimum of $2,000. A limited number of guaranteed spots will be available and we will grant them on a first-come, first-served basis.

Team Perks

How to Join the Team?

Send an email with the subject line “2024 NYC Half Marathon” to stepwithrefugees@usaforunhcr.org to secure a spot and get set up on our fundraising platform. Note, runners will be required to pay their own race entry fee ($130 for NYRR members and $145 for non-members).

Fundraising

Once you secure your spot, our team manager will help you prepare to fundraise and will be a cheerleader during your training and fundraising journey. Please note that New York Road Runners require runners committing to a charity spot to raise a minimum amount. With this in mind, USA for UNHCR is requiring  runners raise a minimum of $2,000 and will ask for credit card information during the signup process to secure your spot. If a fundraiser doesn’t meet the minimum commitment, the balance will be charged to the credit card on file two weeks after race day.
